It is the Avebury's Stone Circle, which makes the town of Avebury a trawlers mecca. Surrounded by the stones, the little hamlet of Avebury offers food, a couple of museums and a few shopping opportunities for the traveler.

| Having been established during the time of the Saxon's, the village of Avebury has little historic relationship to the standing stones surrounding it. During the Middle Ages, a time when the church had little tolerance for paganism, the town's people did attempt to bury the stones. A practice that ended when one of the workers was killed in the moving of one of the stones. A few stones were also incorporated in to the village's construction. |
| Avebury is located a short drive north of Stonehenge. There is a car park on the A4361, providing easy access to the town and the stones. The village parking is only available to visitor's in the late evening. |
