We arrive in Salisbury by train. My plan was to avoid London traffic by picking up a rental car in Salisbury but before I contacted the rental car company, we headed off to visit Salisbury Cathedral.

The Cathedral City of Salisbury wa established in 1220 AD, after the towns people of Old Sarum (see outside links in box below) decided it was necessary to relocate their community and build a new Cathedral.

The primary reason to visit Salisbury is to see the cathedral which also holds one of the four remaining copies of the Magnacarta.

Salisbury has a number of good shops and restaurants. Ever since 1227 a trades and farmers market has been a regular occurrence at Salisbury. Visit on a Tuesday or Saturday and you will likely see venders set up in a central city parking lot and along some of the central city streets.
