Not to be confused with the Mont Saint-Michel in France, St. Michael's Mount has a lot in common with its more famous name sake.

Photo above - High tide causes the undulation of the causeway which connects the island to the mainland.
I have wanted to visit Mont Saint-Michel for years, so when I read about the similar St. Michael's Mount I worked it in to our travel plans. |

During high tide access to the island is by boat but during low tied, foot crossing is possible by the stone causeway.

No photography is allow in the castle which is filled with antiques.
In the 12th century a church was established on the mount and was administered under the authority of Mont Saint-Michel.
