Arriving in Ireland we took a taxi to our Dublin hotel - “Will you be renting a car in Dublin?” asked the Taxi driver. “Yes”, I explain how my wife had driven in Dublin previously and she assured me I would have no problems. “You drove in Dublin before?” the Taxi driver expresses amazement to my wife. “Yes", my wife explains, "two years ago I brought my mother over to visit relatives”. “Ah, I remember it well,” says the driver... “Dublin 's traffic was tied up for weeks!” Thus, began my families visit to Ireland and my introduction to that famous Irish wit.

Tips for Navigating this website:

Note this website is in draft form.

Most of the informational pages (links at top and far left) have brief but useful content. On the pages where I have not been able to get to the written content, I have tried to provide some photos. My goal is to add several layers of additional information for each of the subjects listed.

Organizing this website has been somewhat of a dilemma for me. My Spain Travel Guide was easily organized around cities but Ireland’s uniqueness is found less in its cities but in its countryside. Virtually everywhere in Ireland, one can find historic (prehistoric) treasures, geological uniqueness, magnificent gardens, soul invoking views, and friendly people.

With the links to the left I try to answer the question "Why visit Ireland?" while sharing a few of my family's personal experiences on the island. The links at the top of the page are to assist in planning and provide perspectives on traveling in Ireland. Commercial Resources for traveling to and around Ireland are to the right.

I am adding pages to the "Travels In Ireland" website as I can, other duties have made it a much longer process than originally planned.
Some of the general information pages currently active:
  • Read about my experience with driving in Ireland.
  • The brief History of Ireland.
  • My thoughts on traveling by Train in Ireland
  • Money, did you know Ireland has two different Currencies ?
  • The Airplane page provides a list of air flight booking resources and a few tips for booking your air flight tickets.
