| In my own travels, I
felt very safe traveling about Ireland, both in
the south and north. From what I have
read Ireland appears to be one of the safest
European countries a tourist could visit. Theft
particularly in large cities is reported to be of
highest concern for the tourist. While reports of
pickpockets and theft are not to the same extent
as say for London, Madrid or Barcelona, you still
might want to read my "Safe
Travel for Spain" page, which addresses
the pickpocket issue.
I do strongly recommend one keep their
passport, most of their money and back up credit
card in a money belt
under their clothing. If your hotel provides a safe, use it. Note - you will need your passport prior to boarding international aircraft and booking in to your hotel, you will need to think ahead and have the pastport out of your money belt at those times.
